Living Our Values
Our mission encompasses people and planet
From the foundation of Beyond Carbon in 2022 we have made a commitment to doing more, not just by making better buildings to tackle the climate emergency but by committing our support to local charities and meaningful campaigns.
Life is for living, right up until the last moment. At Katharine House Hospice, patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families are given the support and care they need to make every moment matter.
Katharine House Hospice has been providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual care for our community since 1991. Their multi-professional team are all specialists in palliative and end-of-life care, taking a holistic approach considering physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of both patients and their families and friends.
Katharine House wouldn’t exist without the support of their community of volunteers and regular donors. At Beyond Carbon we care about our community and want to make a positive difference to the lives of people living locally, and are proud to have supported Katharine House Hospice with regular giving since 2023. Every year they need to raise more than £5.9 million so that they can go on caring for people living with a life-limiting illness.

Nai’s House is a vital youth mental health and suicide prevention charity supporting 5–30 year olds across Bicester and Oxfordshire. We provide transformative and life-saving 1:1 support to children and young adults struggling with their emotional and mental wellbeing and/or are experiencing suicidal thoughts or self-harm.
Nai’s House also offers emergency suicide crisis support for any age, group support for parents and caregivers, youth support, social and craft groups, and music workshops in partnership with Community Albums.
To widen their impact, Nai’s House has developed four 8-week programmes focusing on suicide bereavement, low mood and anxiety, reducing suicide action and self-harm prevention, and also delivers bespoke training and globally-recognised suicide prevention training for both the public and professionals, all with a shared mission to prevent suicide and empower people to live.
Beyond Carbon has supported Nai’s House since 2024 including sponsorship of the annual BeNice festival, a team long-distance walk at the end of June 2025 which raised over £1,000, and two staff members attending suicide prevention training to support the local community.

At Beyond Carbon we have several employee benefit schemes that support our commitment to making positive steps towards a low carbon future, including our slow holidays policy and cycle to work scheme.
Slow holidays allow our team members to take up to two days extra annual leave to make slow journeys instead of flying.
A day by train or boat can get you to most of continental Europe, and our team has explored countries including Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The extra time spent travelling means enjoying the scenery whilst living by our values of doing what we can to make a positive steps on the climate crisis.
Our slow holidays scheme is accredited by Possible, and we would encourage you to join!
As a statement of intent and a reflection of our mission to tackle the climate crisis, we have joined the End Gas Now campaign.
We are proud to have joined many other organisations in the built environment in pledging to work only on new projects that do not propose new gas or fossil fuel heating systems.
You can make your own pledge to the campaign as a business, client or individual, here.
