Beyond Carbon and Delta Q are merging

We have some exciting news to share!

Beyond Carbon and Delta Q are merging, to create a stronger Beyond Carbon team with greater experience, broader sector and project expertise, and more capacity to deliver the buildings the climate crisis demands.

With a strong shared mission and values, we are delighted to be welcoming the Delta Q team into Beyond Carbon, and are proud to introduce them.

Delta Q was founded by Piers Sadler in 2010. He has spent 16 years building an exceptional reputation in Passivhaus design and consultancy, particularly in education and affordable residential delivery across London. Together with Megan Ancliffe, David Bryan and Tristan King, they bring expertise, rigour and a track record of certified, built projects that we're genuinely proud to add to our combined portfolio.

Joel Callow and Chris Swinburn CEng founded Beyond Carbon in 2022 because they believed the built environment needed consultants who refused to compromise on energy and carbon performance in the built environment, and who had the technical depth to back that up. That belief is unchanged, what changes is our capacity to act on it.

Together, we become one of the largest Passivhaus consultancies in the UK:

🟡Three founding directors, with equal partnership and a shared vision

🟡A team of specialists in Passivhaus design, whole-life carbon, UKNZCBS, building physics, Passivhaus and AECB certification and complex project delivery across all RIBA project stages

Our combined experience spans:

➡️ Large-scale and complex buildings: laboratories, universities and leisure centres

➡️ Education: certified Passivhaus schools from primary to secondary

➡️ Residential: including social and affordable housing, co-housing, and large-scale private residential

➡️ Retrofit: EnerPHit, heritage buildings and estate decarbonisation

🎯Why now?

We feel this is the right moment: the demand for genuinely low-carbon, low-energy buildings is accelerating, and we are bringing together our collective expertise and capacity to have even greater impact, for our clients, for the people who use the buildings we create, and for the climate.

If you've worked with either of us before, thank you. Nothing will change for you: our commitment to quality, our people and our relationships remains unchanged. We hope you agree this is good news!

We will continue to be based in Bicester, London and Bristol, and will be publishing more news and updates over the next couple of weeks.

Do get in touch if you have any questions.
